AI Usage Policy

The Journal of Nusantara Education (JONED) recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may assist authors in improving the clarity and presentation of scholarly manuscripts. However, their use must be transparent, responsible, and consistent with academic integrity.

Permitted Use of AI Tools

Authors may use generative AI tools for language editing, grammar correction, spelling checks, and improvements in clarity, coherence, and academic style. Under the journal's current policy, AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contributions or be used to generate substantive research content, analysis, interpretations, or conclusions.

Disclosure Requirements

Any use of generative AI tools must be declared in the Acknowledgements section of the manuscript. Authors should identify the AI tool or application used and briefly describe its purpose. If no generative AI tools were used, no declaration is necessary unless otherwise required by the journal.

Authors' Responsibilities

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of their manuscripts. They must carefully review and verify all AI-assisted revisions, including factual statements, references, citations, and language corrections. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the research or the published work.

Prohibited Practices

The use of AI tools to fabricate or falsify data, invent references, misrepresent research findings, plagiarize existing work, or conceal unauthorized AI-generated content is prohibited. Authors must also ensure that confidential information, unpublished manuscripts, personal data, or sensitive research materials are not entered into AI systems in ways that violate confidentiality, privacy, or applicable ethical requirements.

Declaration Template

Authors may use the following statement, adapting it to accurately reflect their actual use of AI tools:

We acknowledge the use of [name of AI tool or application] for [specific purpose, such as grammar correction, language editing, or improving clarity and coherence] in preparing this manuscript. The tool was used solely for language-related assistance and did not replace the authors' intellectual contributions. The authors reviewed and verified the revised text and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of the manuscript.
